How did the Rat become the number one sign in the Chinese Zodiac?
This is the most widespread Chinese zodiac legend. The Jade Emperor (The Emperor in Heaven in Chinese folklore) ordered that animals would be designated as calendar signs and the twelve that arrived first would be selected. On that day, the rat got up very early and very early and rushed to the gathering site. On the way, he encountered the ox that ran much faster. In order not to fall behind, he thought up a good idea. He made the straightforward ox carry him on condition that he sang for the ox. At last, the ox and rat arrived first. The ox was happy thinking that he would be the first sign of the years, but the rat had already slid in front, and became the first lucky animal of the Chinese zodiac. That's how did the rat win the race. Then what is the 12 animals of Chinese zodiac in order? Following Rat, Ox, are Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig. Chinese Zodiac Story of Cat At that time, the cat and the rat were good friends and neighbors. When they heard of the news that the Jade Emperor were selecting zodiac animals, the cat said to the rat: 'We should arrive early to sign up, but I usually get up late.' The rat then promised to awaken his friend and go together. However, on the morning when he got up, he was too excited to recall his promise, and went directly to the gathering place. When the cat finally arrived, the selection was over. That’s why the cat hates the rat so much that every time they meet, the cat will chase and kill it. 2020 -- YEAR OF THE GOLD (METAL) RAT The ingenuity, adaptability, and perseverance of the rat make 2020 the year of possibility. He who understands nature walks close with God.
Edgar Cayce Nature and especially trees have a very healing impact on people. They can help us tap into our intuition & higher selves. Read below some enlightening stories on how trees effect us. When we think of Feng Shui we may not understand how it would be linked to the 8 branches of Chinese medicine. In the first 2 branches of Chinese medicine we are working with our own personal chi energy. In Feng Shui the 5th branch of Chinese medicine we are working with nature or outside Chi energy. There is incredible healing energy with Nature. The Taoist, Buddhism and the Asian cultures have known for years that spending mindful time in the woods is beneficial for body and soul. In this part of the course I will be showing the powerful healing power of the wood element and how trees effect us. I will also be showing you how bringing the wood element indoors using Feng Shui can help us make us feel better aligning with our own energies and enhance certain areas of our life, like your finances, family, health, creativity, & personal growth. Did you know that trees are among the world’s greatest healers? Forest Bathing is Feng Shui, or Shinrin-yoku, is the Japanese practice of going to the forest to receive mental and physical healing. Forest plants emit essential wood oils and airborne chemicals to protect themselves from insects and decay. Research has shown that forest aromas benefit humans as well. Studies from Japan, Finland, the United States and other countries have shown that forest bathing or being in nature for long periods of time can greatly reduce stress, increase joy level, lower blood pressure, improve concentration, strengthen the immune system, builds up vitality, and has powerful anti-cancer benefits. All cultures recognize that trees uplift the human spirit. To ancient people, trees were channels for the gods, and forests were humankind’s first temples and sanctuaries. Trees, living high in the sky, receive 95 percent of their sustenance from the atmosphere. Drawing nourishment from the sun and sky, trees express a divine benevolence. Buddhist scriptures speak of the unlimited kindness of trees—how they give generously, and offer protection and shelter to all beings. When we open up our heart charka, we can truly start to feel the magical healing parts of trees and all nature. Below are some examples of trees and their healing abilities. Bodhi Tree Buddah sat beneath a sacred fig Bodhi Tree (Ficus religiosa) and began to meditate. According to some traditions, he realized enlightenment in one night. Others say three days and three nights; while others say 45 days. When his mind was purified by concentration, it is said he acquired the Three Knowledge's. The first knowledge was that of his past lives and the past lives of all beings. The second knowledge was of the laws of karma The third knowledge was that he was free of all obstacles and released from attachments. He also realized The Four noble truths 1. Suffering. 2. Cause of Suffering is desire and greed. 3 Truth stop clinging to attachments. 4 Noble truth walking the path of enlightenment or the path of GOD. Buddah learned all these amazing truths while sitting underneath a tree. Edgar Cayce Story on Trees- The Sleeping Prophet Edgar Cayce when I had grown to be six or seven years old… our home was in a little wood. Here I learned to talk with the trees, or it appeared that they talked with me. I even yet hold that anyone may hear voices, apparently coming from a tree, if willing to choose a tree (a living tree, not a dead one) and sit against it for fifteen to twenty minutes each day (the same time each day) for twenty days. This was my experience. I chose a very lovely tree, and around it I played with my playmates that came … It was there that I read the Bible through the first time, that I learned to pray, that I had many visions … The Gift of the Tree and my Mother's Passing When my mother passed away it was as if my other half died or a part of me died. She was my strength and my rock. I looked up to my mother, she was the wise sage women that we all went to with all are problems. She was always able to help and never cast judgment, she had words of wisdom and compassion in her heart at all times. So when she passed I obviously needed some guidance, this took me to Thailand on my spiritual quest. When I was in Thailand with my teacher, he worked with me on feeling the energies all around me, these energies included Trees. He taught me you can feel if a tree is yin or yang, Male or female. You can actually talk with trees, they have the ability to help tap into your emotions and release anything that you have been carrying that does not serve you. They are designed to help us heal, they can literally release our negativity. When I came back from Thailand I developed a beautiful relationship with my own tree. This tree stood alone on top of this hill. One day I decided to walk up the hill with my dog Asia. I stood there and I could hear and feel the tree talk to me.. The Tree said "I sit on the top of this hill to protect and take care of whomever walks this path. I help nurture anyone who will sit with me. I am much like you, we both are nurturers and be both take care of the people and nature all around us. We may appear small in stature, but are mighty in heart. Come visit me and I can help you on your journey". I have been visiting this tree ever since. The tree seems to have an angelic feel to it much like my mother.. She is soft & kind and offers complete love, compassion, and wisdom when you are near her. I honestly believe my mother helped me to find this tree and work with my pain on losing her. This led me to finding my own inner strength. I now feel that I am becoming the wise, sage women. I have some big shoes to fill, but I just want to say "Thank You Mom". I Love You! Your Daughter Tiffany "A Love Story & The Apple Tree. This is a romantic love story about my husband's parents who were married for over 60 years. Their names are Bob and June. When Bob was a young man at the beginning of their marriage he planted an apple tree for his wife. This tree seemed to grow fast and always seemed to have apples on it. When Bob passed away it was very difficult for June and the whole family. My husband went up to visit his mother a year or so later after his dad passed. He went outside in the back yard and noticed the apple tree had grown huge. He then noticed one branch that stuck out super far, almost like the branch was a hand reaching out to the house near his wife's Junes bedroom window. My husband always heard me talk about nature and if you pay attention there are signs all around us. At that moment he knew it was his fathers way of letting his wife and family know he was nearby watching over them and protecting them. He took a picture of the tree and brought it home for me to see. This picture brought tears to my eyes and chills ran through my entire body confirming it was Bob's way of letting his wife and family know he was still with them. This is a true Love Story affirming we are never alone and when we walk with nature we are closer to GOD! |
